Job summary

KLA, based in Milpitas, CA, is hiring to work on mask inspection software and data-flow utilities within the RAPID division. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve complex system problems, applying strong C++ and Python coding skills in Unix environments.

The role emphasizes debugging, code quality, and potential use of AI coding assistants to generate and review code. We value candidates with Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/CE and a passion for advanced semiconductor

Group/Division: The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA’s product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices.

Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials.

We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics.

The RAPID division leads the industry in reticle inspection solutions, helping ensure high lithography yields and cost-effective semiconductor manufacturing. Its systems support both mask shops and fabs by detecting defects early in the process, enabling faster, more reliable production.

What You'll Do

• Working on mask inspection software, utilities for machine control, and/or data flow management and associated utilities.
• Interacting with multidisciplinary engineering teams including application, electrical, mechanical, optical, algorithm, and other SW team to acquire in-depth domain knowledge and solve system problems.

Qualifications

• Strong C++ and/or Python programming skill
• Experience working in Unix-based programming environment
• Must have debugging skills with some knowledge in machine control and multi-threaded/multi-process programming environment
• Experience using AI coding assistants (e.g. Claude Code, Devin, Cursor) to generate, review, and debug code
• Including writing effective prompts for code/test generation and validation
• Must demonstrate the ability the evaluate AI-generated code for correctness and reliability

Preferred Qualifications

• Robotics is a plus

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related engineering field.

Total Rewards Base Pay Range: $37.00 - $49.00 per hour based on pursuit of a Bachelors and Masters
