Job summary

Natera is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for a remote, USA-based opportunity. You will analyze and implement software requirements, format and upload data, and perform DB schema changes while developing unit tests and automating tasks with scripts.

You will work with JavaScript, Python or Java, SQL and MySQL administration, and will engage in code reviews, testing, and issue resolution. HIPAA/privacy training is required within 30 days.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Computer Science or similar discipline / bootcamp / equivalent work experience.
• Experience with JavaScript, Python or Java and SQL.
• MySQL administration experience is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication; willingness to learn new skills.

POSITION TITLE: Software Engineering Intern

POSITION LOCATION: Remote, USA

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyze and implement software requirements
• Format, validate and upload data
• Perform database schema changes
• Automate existing manual tasks through use of script development
• Make changes to the software code to resolve defects and make it more reliable
• Perform debugging and root cause analysis for issues
• Communicate with the users to better understand their needs
• Develop unit tests
• Assist with other tasks, e.g., code review, testing, and test automation, as needed
• Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI (protected health information) privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training within first 30 days of hire.
• Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements.
• Employee must pass post-offer criminal background check.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS Degree in Computer Science or similar discipline / high quality bootcamp class / equivalent work experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Good working knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language, e.g..
• JavaScript, Python, Java, etc.
• SQL
• MySQL administration
• Google Sheets: formulas and App Script - a plus
• Excellent verbal and written English communication
• Ability and willingness to acquire new skills - A MUST
• High sense of ownership and accountability
