Job summary

Position Overview

As the Software Engineering Director, you oversee engineering capabilities within PNC’s Technology organization. You strategically lead and scale enterprise‑wide engineering capabilities with a primary focus on security, driving design, development, and delivery of secure platforms, applications, and tools that protect and enhance our digital and physical assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the long‑term vision and roadmap for security engineering platforms and services.
• Lead large‑scale, complex application development initiatives aligned with business and cybersecurity goals.
• Drive innovation across security technologies, including automation, cloud security, and platform modernization.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders, IT partners, and security stakeholders.
• Influence security strategy, risk posture, and investment prioritization.

Job Description

• Direct all activities and initiatives related to application services for an entire organization or major clients.
• Manage the delivery of large or complex application development projects; define strategies focused on technology development.
• Maintain client relationships; communicate with IT and business management; monitor prompt response and support for technical issues.
• Ensure high standards and quality of technical work; direct reviews of tools and technologies for performance improvement and cost reduction.
• Direct, motivate, develop, and manage the performance of the management team and key staff.

Qualifications

Required: 8+ years of industry‑relevant experience, at least 5 years of prior management experience, proven leadership with large scope of responsibility. Education: Bachelor’s or higher; Masters/PhD acceptable. No certification required. Must demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities for senior engineering leadership and security focus.

Pay Transparency

Base Salary: $143,000 – $297,000 per year. Role is incentive eligible based on performance.
