Job summary

Peraton seeks a highly capable Software Engineer to design, develop, and secure next-gen software systems with emphasis on defensive security techniques. You will build, test, and improve applications while mitigating vulnerabilities and collaborating across disciplines in a mission-driven environment.

The role involves hands-on coding, security testing, and architecture-level input to ensure scalable, secure solutions supported by clear documentation and a strong team culture.

Qualifications

• Twenty (20) years of experience as a Software Engineer (SWE) on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing security testing and participate in code reviews to enhance both system security and feature functionality.
• Debug, design, and develop new software applications, as well as modify and optimize existing systems.

• Develop and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation for long-term system sustainability.

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Software Engineer to design, develop, and secure next-generation software systems. This role focuses on implementing advanced security techniques in alignment with the Technical Reference Architecture, ensuring resilient, high-performing solutions that directly support mission success.

What You'll Do

Hands-on in building, testing, and enhancing software applications, while proactively identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities. You will collaborate across disciplines to strengthen system security, contribute to architecture-level decisions, and shape the future of software capabilities within a dynamic mission environment.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with Open Source (NoSQL) databases such as HBase, Accumulo, or BigTable.
• At least six (6) years of experience within the most recent eight (8) years developing production software for Solaris or Linux environments.
• Six (6) years of software development experience using Java, C, or C++.
• Demonstrated work experience developing RESTful services
• Demonstrated work experience developing infrastructure as code
• Demonstrated work experience with continuous integration and deployment tools such as Ansible and Terraform
• Demonstrated work experience in Java development
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Previous experience developing analytics applications

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
