Primary Responsibilities
- Participate in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) both as an individual contributor and as part of an agile development team building a large complex enterprise system.
- Translate Agile user stories into implementable concepts, develop, unit test, integrate, test, and deploy new capabilities.
- Follow Behavior-driven Development (BDD) practices and implement robust testing leveraging DevOps automation and test automation tools where appropriate.
- Develop server-side business logic as well as client web applications and user interfaces (UI).
- Work with Java, Python, embedded C/C++, Java cryptographic framework, XML, and web UI technologies (Angular, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, etc.), and engage in special purpose device programming opportunities.
- Engage in daily stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Program Increment (PI) Planning, and related team activities; analyze complex system requirements and use design tools and formal specifications to ensure maintainable, efficient, reliable, and reusable code.
- Provide software process management and control during coding, promote code reuse and cross-program collaboration, and reduce maintenance costs by creating common functions and shared actions for developers and testers.
- Engineer, author, tune and document automation scripts in a development environment and deploy to test/production benches.
Basic Qualifications
- Must have a BS degree with 2–4 years of relevant experience or a Masters with less than 2 years of relevant experience; additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
- Demonstrated experience with Java.
- Experience or familiarity with multiple Java frameworks (Spring Boot/Data, JEE including JPA, EJB, JTA, Servlet), Jackson, Jersey, Swing, JavaFX.
- Experience or familiarity with multiple languages such as JavaScript, Python, C/C++, Groovy, SQL.
- Experience with development IDEs (Eclipse, Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, Rhapsody, WebStorm).
- Experience with databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL Server).
- Experience with Web Application UI development and related technologies (Spring Framework, AngularJS, JSON, HTML, XML, XSLT).
- Experience with software source control and configuration management tools.
- Experience with cryptographic system technologies (symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, ASN.1 encoding, XML canonicalization, digital signatures).
- Experience developing on Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
- Documented professional experience with web services.
- Strong understanding of sound software development principles and the ability to plan and prioritize personal tasks; effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-moving environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) including EJB, JPA, JTA, JAX-B, JAX-RS, JAX-WS; SQL; application servers (Tomcat, WebLogic, JBoss); Spring framework; scripting.
- Experience or familiarity with XML/XSD/SOAP/WSDL/XSLT, REST, JSON, YAML, Containers (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks (AngularJS, Bootstrap, JQuery).
- Experience with testing and mocking frameworks (JUnit, Jupiter, Mockito, Jasmine, Karma, Cucumber, UFT, Selenium, FITNesse).
- Experience with build tools (Maven, CMake, RPM, Jenkins, Nexus).
- Experience with high-level requirements management including decomposition, secure systems engineering, trade-off analysis, interface control, and CI/testing.
- Experience with Agile practices (Pair Programming, TDD, Refactoring, ATDD) and Behavior Driven Development (BDD).
- Secure software development practices and familiarity with Scrum and SAFe methodologies.
