Job summary

Apple’s Applied Sensing & Health team seeks a software engineer to drive health features across iPhone, Apple Watch, and macOS. You will architect and ship on-device sensing experiences using multi-modal data to delight users.

You will collaborate with hardware, health, and software teams to optimize privacy, power, and performance while collecting high-quality data to validate and improve algorithms for health and wellbeing features.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will architect and implement health features across iOS, watchOS, and macOS, guiding them from initial concept to shipping product. This involves developing and implementing sensor fusion algorithms using sensors such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, heart rate, and others to power new health & wellbeing experiences. A critical part of your work will be collecting high-quality data for development, and later, validating and optimizing algorithm performance on-device to meet strict power, memory, and privacy requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical fieldsStrong proficiency in one of C++, Objective-C or Swift languagesSolid understanding of performance optimization, memory management, and power-efficient programmingStrong presentation skills and ability to explain complex software concepts to health, research, and clinical professionals

Preferred Qualifications

Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersMobile app development experience (iOS, watchOS, SwiftUI)Background in digital signal processing (DSP) and time-series analysis, particularly for biometric or inertial sensor data.Relevant experience within health domains (including work with SaMD or regulatory products)Proficiency with Python data analysis libraries (matplotlib, pandas, numpy)Experience with machine learning technologies and algorithm implementation
