Wyetech is seeking a skilled Software Engineer (SWE1) to support the design, development, integration, maintenance, and enhancement of complex software systems supporting mission-critical government programs.

The Software Engineer will develop and maintain diverse software solutions, including processing-intensive analytics, advanced algorithms, large-scale data processing systems, real-time applications, and business management information systems. The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver reliable, efficient, and scalable software solutions based on documented system and mission requirements.

This position requires experience across the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, software architecture, application development, debugging, testing, system integration, and technical documentation.

The ideal candidate will possess strong software engineering fundamentals, demonstrated experience developing and maintaining complex applications, and the ability to analyze technical requirements and implement effective solutions within demanding operational environments.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex software systems in programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Experience analyzing user requirements and translating functional and operational needs into software design and performance requirements.
  • Experience designing, coding, debugging, testing, and maintaining software applications and components.
  • Experience identifying software defects, investigating problem reports, and implementing corrective solutions.
  • Experience modifying existing software to improve functionality, resolve errors, enhance performance, or accommodate changes in system architecture and hardware.
  • Experience integrating existing software components into new or modified systems and operating environments.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, design principles, coding standards, and established development processes.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, and maintaining software documentation, system specifications, and technical design materials.
  • Experience developing and executing software test procedures to validate functionality, performance, and compliance with established requirements.
  • Experience developing database queries and working with databases, data repositories, or data management interfaces.
  • Experience analyzing software and system performance requirements to develop efficient and reliable technical solutions.
  • Understanding of software architecture, system integration, hardware/software trade-offs, and software reuse principles.
  • Familiarity with evaluating Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) software solutions as alternatives to custom development.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers, systems engineers, developers, and mission stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, technical communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative software development team.

Responsibilities and Capabilities:

  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design specifications, functional requirements, and system performance objectives.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems based on documented technical and operational requirements.
  • Develop software solutions supporting processing-intensive analytics, large-scale data manipulation, real-time processing, advanced algorithms, and business information systems.
  • Design and code new software applications and modify existing software to introduce additional functionality and capabilities.
  • Debug existing software, identify root causes of defects, and implement corrective solutions to resolve software problem reports.
  • Integrate existing software components into new or modified systems, applications, and operating environments.
  • Develop and implement algorithms to meet or exceed established system performance and functional standards.
  • Design, develop, and implement software interfaces supporting complex databases, data repositories, and associated information systems.
  • Develop simple and complex data queries to retrieve, manipulate, and process information within existing or proposed databases and repositories.
  • Review and test software components to ensure compliance with design requirements, performance standards, and functional specifications.
  • Assist with developing, executing, and documenting software test procedures, including functional testing, integration testing, and performance validation.
  • Analyze system performance requirements and collaborate with users and systems engineers to develop effective software solutions.
  • Evaluate system workflows, data usage, software processes, and technical constraints to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, accommodate new hardware, improve performance, or adapt to changing operational requirements.
  • Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical modeling to predict and evaluate the outcomes of proposed designs.
  • Participate in software architecture and system design discussions, providing technical input on software components, interfaces, and integration requirements.
  • Evaluate hardware/software trade-offs, opportunities for software reuse, and the suitability of COTS/GOTS solutions in place of new development.
  • Support requirements analysis and decomposition from system-level specifications to individual software components.
  • Write, review, and maintain software documentation, system design specifications, technical procedures, and test results.
  • Provide recommendations for improving software documentation, development processes, coding practices, and engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to troubleshoot technical issues and implement software enhancements.
  • Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, technical discussions, and engineering assessments.
