Job description

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER, STARLINK ENTERPRISE PRODUCTS (SPACE LASERS)

Starlink is SpaceX's unprecedented satellite constellation designed to deliver high-speed broadband internet to remote areas around the world. By deploying thousands of satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO), we've created a global network that bridges the digital divide, enabling reliable connectivity for homes, businesses, vessels, aircraft, and more.

As a member of the Enterprise Products Software team, you'll own software for bring-up and operation of new Starlink products including:

  • Plaser, our space laser product which connects third‑party vehicles to the Starlink constellation
  • Community Gateway, our terrestrial very high throughput parabolic antenna
  • Starlink Aviation, enabling tens of millions of passengers to experience Starlink worldwide and more to-be‑launched products that leverage Starlink in new industries

You’ll drive features at different layers of the stack, including embedded applications, backend systems, and user interfaces. Prior aerospace experience is not a requirement to be successful here - we’re looking for ambitious engineers who thrive when they’re diving deep on challenging, interdisciplinary problems.

Our software engineers are responsible for the complete lifecycle of the software they create, including development, testing, and support. We expect our engineers to close the feedback loop between software design and real‑world performance. In this role, your software will have a meaningful and measurable impact on the world.

  • Develop prototypes and manage experiments to prove out key design concepts
  • Write quality linux based software for common processors and microcontrollers
  • Develop hardware‑in‑the‑loop testbeds and testcases
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or other STEM discipline
  • 1+ year of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience is acceptable)

  • Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to question requirements and push technical boundaries

  • Creative approach to problem solving, exceptional analytical skills and engineering fundamentals
