Job summary

Realtor.com® is seeking a collaborative Senior Software Engineer to join the RDC Plus team. You will help define work, drive architecture, and deliver scalable backend and frontend solutions that power millions of users of our real estate platform.

You will mentor engineers, work with product and design, and apply agentic AI capabilities to improve code quality while collaborating across teams to solve business problems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software architecture and development.
• Experience with Python or TypeScript and other OO languages.
• Knowledge of distributed systems across cloud providers (AWS preferred).
• Experience with Postgres and document stores (DynamoDB, MongoDB).
• Frontend web or app development experience.
• Agentic AI code generation experience is a plus.
• Data-driven with focus on shipping code and iteration.
• Strong communication with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Bachelor degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent

We are looking for a collaborative and customer-focused Senior Software Engineer to join our RDC Plus team. This team creates innovative solutions across the real-estate ecosystem, fostering deeper connections between industry players and consumers.

What You’ll Do:

• Use technology to create innovation that delights consumers, and agents, and disrupts the industry
• Define work and drive technical decisions for complex features in the consumer and agent facing experiences
• Collaborate across functional teams to solve business problems, and lead each step of the product development process: from ideation to release; rapidly prototyping, experimenting and delivering solutions that scale to support millions of users
• Connect business and consumer problems to proposed technical solutions. Work with product and other stakeholders to rapidly deliver high-impact value and measure using data
• Define and evolve the architecture, design and implementation of consumer and agent facing experiences using clean architecture principles.
• Make effective and timely technology choices for implementing solutions, often without complete information.
• Drive a stable and scalable architecture using modern patterns to deliver a first-class mobile product.
• Drive adoption of design patterns, coding and quality standards, and software development processes
• Help improve code generation and quality by utilizing agentic AI and best practices
• Mentor and coach junior engineers

What You’ll Bring:

• 5+ years of experience in software architecture, design and development, with specialty in developing backend APIs or full stack applications
• Experience with some modern distributed systems backend languages like Python or Typescript, or any other object oriented language (Go, Rust, Java, etc.)
• Good knowledge of distributed systems architecture from one of more cloud providers, preferable AWS, utilizing infrastructure as code
• Experience with both relational databases (Postgres, etc.) and document stores (DynamoDB, mongodb)
• Experience with frontend web or app application development
• Experience building maintainable and scalable systems
• Experience with agentic AI code generation a plus
• A data-driven approach with strong results and outcome-oriented focus, understanding the value derived from rapidly shipping code and learning/iterating on the results
• Strong empathy for our consumers and agents, and a passion for exceeding their expectations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, connecting directly and effectively with cross-functional technical and non-technical stakeholders at various levels
• Ability to decompose complex business problems and communicate solutions succinctly
• A passion for learning, continuous improvement, sharing, and working in a team environment
  Independent and can manage your own projects and time with ease, all the while setting and managing stakeholder expectations
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science / Engineering or related field, or equivalent professional experience
