Google’s Cambridge team seeks a software engineer in Search/AI-ML to drive high-impact projects and robust systems. The role includes designing, implementing, and refining software with a focus on security and reliability, collaborating across engineers, TPMs, and stakeholders.

Individual pay is determined by job skills, experience, and education. US: $147,000 - $210,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in C++.
• 1 year of experience with ML-related areas (speech/audio, RL, ML infrastructure, or ML field specialization).
• 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (model deployment, evaluation, optimization, data processing).
• Experience in system design, architecture, and large-scale distributed systems.

• Contribute to codebase via designs, tests, and reviews for reliability.
• Plan tasks aligned with team OKRs and milestones.

• Design, implement, and maintain high-quality software focused on mitigating a full range of external and internal access‑related security risks within Search.
• Contribute to the codebase by authoring technical design documents, writing well‑tested code, and participating in code reviews and debugging to ensure system reliability.
• Participate in team planning to translate the team's high‑level technical goals and strategy into actionable engineering tasks that align with quarterly objectives and key results (OKRs).
• Work closely with peer engineers, Technical Program Managers (TPMs), and other stakeholders to deliver on project milestones and provide regular progress updates.
• Foster a collaborative and safe environment by communicating effectively, valuing perspectives, and supporting your peers.
