Job summary

Google Cambridge is hiring a Mid‑level Software Engineer for the Search/AI‑ML area. You will contribute to next‑generation search technologies, focusing on scalable systems, AI/ML integration, and robust software engineering practices.

You will work on design, deployment, and maintenance of software with a strong emphasis on security and reliability, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to meet quarterly objectives and drive impact for billions of users.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in C++.
• 1 year of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
• 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (model deployment, evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
• Experience in system design, system architecture, and large-scale distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high-quality software focused on mitigating a full range of external and internal access-related security risks within Search.
• Contribute to the codebase by authoring technical design documents, writing well-tested code, and participating in code reviews and debugging to ensure system reliability.
• Participate in team planning to translate the team’s high-level technical goals and strategy into actionable engineering tasks that align with quarterly objectives and OKRs.
• Work closely with peer engineers, TPMs, and other stakeholders to deliver on project milestones and provide regular progress updates.
• Foster a collaborative and safe environment by communicating effectively, valuing perspectives, and supporting your peers.
