Job summary

Yext Inc. in New York City is seeking a software engineer to join Team Hedwig, contributing to scalable, reliable systems and AI-assisted development practices. You’ll participate in the full software lifecycle, collaborate across engineering and with partners, and write clean, tested code.

We value familiarity with Java, C++, and Python, along with a BS in CS and 1+ year of experience. The role offers in-person collaboration in NYC three days a week, with flexibility for personal needs.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent college-level education.
• 1+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Fluency with Java, C++, Python, or Go.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to evaluate technical solutions critically, including AI-generated output.
• Experience using or interest in learning AI-assisted development tools.
• Sound judgment regarding data privacy, security, and confidential information with AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and ongoing operation.
• Contribute to the design, implementation, and deployment of highly scalable and reliable systems.
• Develop storage systems, libraries, and frameworks.
• Proactively contribute ideas for new features and identify opportunities to improve our products, systems, and engineering practices.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues across engineering and with partners throughout the company.
• Write clean, tested, and well-documented code.
• Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully to accelerate engineering work, explore solutions, improve code quality, and reduce repetitive tasks.
• Critically evaluate, test, and validate AI-generated output rather than treating it as inherently correct.
• Maintain ownership of all work produced with AI assistance, including its correctness, security, maintainability, and alignment with our engineering standards.
