Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Software Engineer to join a fast-paced environment building a GUI on a Raspberry Pi in Rust and integrating with automated welding machines. The role emphasizes hands-on project assembly with minimal guidance and cross-team collaboration.

You will contribute production-quality C++ or Rust code, read electrical schematics, debug with oscilloscopes, and work with vendors on new equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math or STEM discipline.
• 3+ years of software development experience.
• Familiarity with C++ and embedded systems.
• Familiarity with UART/Serial, SPI and RS485 protocols.
• Ability to debug with oscilloscopes or logic analyzers.
• Willingness to learn new software stacks.
• Good understanding of Linux, Debian-based embedded systems.
• Experience with production code in C++ and/or Rust.
• Experience with motion control systems (servos, linear motors, etc.).
• Must be available 40+ hours per week.
• Ability to work safely without close supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication; team player.

We are looking for a Software Engineer who is driven and adaptable with experience developing software in a fast paced environment.

This position seeks an engineer who has experience putting projects together with minimal guidance. Include examples of past code, circuits, or projects in your application. While the bulk of the work is working on a GUI in rust on a Raspberry Pi, the task requires a deeper understanding of how the rest of the machine operates.

Basic Job Functions:

• Develop the GUI on a Raspberry Pi in Rust.

• Work with vendors for design, review, and implementation of new equipment.

• Read (And ideally create) basic electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

• Create reliable and well documented software that can be safely used by operator and technician level workers.

• Use knowledge of the codebase to debug issues in deployed machines.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, math or STEM discipline
