Job summary

Smartsheet is hiring Software Engineers to help scale a modern SaaS platform hosted on AWS, with a Java/Go microservices backend and React frontend. You will work remotely from Bulgaria and report to an engineering leader.

The role spans full development lifecycle, architecture discussions, feature implementation, APIs, and QA, with cross-disciplinary collaboration across frontend, backend, test automation, and infra.

Qualifications

• Experience with Golang, Java, C, or Node.js.
• Frontend tech: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.js.
• Knowledge of OO design and Microservice Architecture.
• Experience with scalable, high-availability applications.
• Comfort working in Linux command line environments.
• A degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
• Legally eligible to work in Bulgaria on an ongoing basis.
• Fluency in English is required.

Our core platform includes a legacy Java monolith alongside a growing ecosystem of microservices, primarily built in Java and Go (with a small number of Kotlin services). On the front end, product teams that deliver UI experiences use React.

You will work remotely from Bulgaria and will be reporting to an engineering leader.

You Will:

• Contribute to the entire development lifecycle, from concept to release, ensuring quality at every step.
• Participate in system architecture discussions to design scalable, high-availability applications.
• Implement new features and improve existing functionality to enhance our product offerings..
• Maintain and develop service APIs that serve millions of users.
• Collaborate with systems engineers to debug infrastructure challenges.
• Take part in all phases of quality assurance and defect resolution to maintain the reliability of our systems.
• Work across multiple disciplines such as front-end, back-end, test automation, and infrastructure to broaden your technical expertise.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

You Have:

• Experience with programming languages like Golang, Java, C, or Node.js.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js)
• Knowledge of Object-Oriented design and Microservice Architecture.
• Experience with scalable, high-availability applications.
• Comfort working in Linux command line environments.
• A degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
• Legally eligible to work in Bulgaria on an ongoing basis.
• Fluency in English is required.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with DynamoDB, MySQL, or other relational and non-relational databases.
• Familiarity with AWS and Docker, or AWS certifications (AWS Developer, AWS Solution Architect).
• Experience with service orchestration tools like Kubernetes or HashiCorp
