Job summary

Comcast Corporation’s FreeWheel unit seeks a Software Engineer for the SEAM team to deliver audience, identity, and measurement services at scale. You will build software, automation, and data pipelines to connect engineering performance with financial outcomes in a cloud-first environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically, 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience using Python, Go, Java, JavaScript/Node.js, Rust, or Scala.
  • Experience with at least one major cloud provider—AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI and working knowledge of cloud billing, resource tagging, usage metrics, or cost-management concepts.
  • LLM/RAG/MCP and Agentic AI Working knowledge of CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform, or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience with microservices, containers, and orchestration platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, or OKE.
  • Strong SQL skills and exposure to data and analytics platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Presto, EMR, PostgreSQL, or Aerospike.
  • Experience building dashboards, automated reporting, data pipelines, or observability solutions using tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, ELK, Grafana, or business intelligence platforms.
  • Ability to analyze technical and financial data, quantify tradeoffs, debug scoped issues, and turn findings into practical engineering actions.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with Engineering, Finance, Product, Architecture, Data, Platform, SRE, compliance, and end users.
  • Ability to contribute in a fast-paced agile environment while balancing delivery, reliability, security, cost, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain software, data pipelines, dashboards, and automation that measure cloud spend, infrastructure utilization, cost per transaction or activation, capacity, reliability, and engineering productivity.
  • Partner with the Manager and Finance stakeholders to translate budgets, forecasts, unit economics, and business cases into actionable engineering requirements and measurable optimization initiatives.
  • Analyze cloud, platform, and data workloads to identify cost anomalies, inefficient resource use, redundant services, and opportunities to improve workload placement, storage, compute, and data movement.
  • Implement AI- and analytics-enabled solutions that automate repetitive operational work, improve forecasting and anomaly detection, accelerate delivery, and surface recommendations for engineering and financial decision‑making.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of scalable, available, secure, and maintainable services using cloud-native patterns, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
  • Work with Architecture, Platform, Data, SRE, and product engineering teams to evaluate cost‑efficient design patterns and participate in buy‑versus‑build‑versus‑broker and modernization decisions.
  • Create reliable integrations between engineering telemetry, cloud billing data, financial planning inputs, and executive reporting; validate data quality and document definitions, assumptions, and controls.
  • Support capacity planning, cost allocation, tagging, chargeback, and forecasting processes that improve financial accountability and budget accuracy across engineering teams.
  • Develop automated unit and integration tests, troubleshoot production and data‑quality issues, and ensure solutions adhere to engineering, security, compliance, and operational standards.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders, including the expected business value, implementation tradeoffs, risks, and realized savings.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by reducing technical debt, simplifying operational workflows, sharing reusable patterns, and coaching teammates on cost‑conscious engineering practices.
