Job summary

TactWare is seeking a Software Engineer to support the U.S. Army Precision Fires program for the AvMC at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.

You will help design, develop, integrate, test, and modernize software for mission-critical military systems as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team. In this role, you will work with C/C++ and other OO languages, develop unit tests and automated build/test workflows, troubleshoot defects, and participate in design reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of software engineering experience with C/C++.
• Experience in Linux development environments and Git.
• Ability to travel up to 10% and obtain an active security clearance.

Job description

TactWare is seeking a Software Engineer to support the Precision Fires program for the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC) at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.

In this role, you will help design, develop, integrate, test, and modernize software for mission-critical military systems. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team alongside software, systems, hardware, cyber, safety, and test engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software for military systems.
• Support requirements analysis, software design, implementation, testing, and documentation throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Develop maintainable software using C/C++ and other object-oriented programming languages based on program needs.
• Develop and maintain unit tests and automated build and test workflows.
• Troubleshoot software defects and system integration issues.
• Participate in software and system design reviews and technical interchange meetings.
• Work within an Agile software development environment.
• Collaborate across engineering disciplines to deliver integrated software capabilities.
• Support the modernization and sustainment of new and existing software systems.

Required Qualifications

• Active Secret security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to security clearance requirements.
• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• An additional six years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with C/C++ and other object-oriented programming languages.
• Experience with object-oriented software design and development.
• Experience developing and maintaining unit tests.
• Experience working in Linux development environments.
• Experience with Git or similar source control systems.
• Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Embedded or real-time software development experience.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Hardware/software integration experience.
• Microsoft Azure DevOps experience.
• Experience with safety-critical software.
• Experience with UML, SysML, MBSE, or architecture modeling tools.
