Aurora Innovation Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer for the Performance Engineering Optimization (PEO) team.

You will build tooling to probe, collect and process vast performance data on vehicle and simulation platforms, and help reduce onboard latency while improving hardware utilization. Collaborate with Autonomy, Sensing and Vehicle Platform Infrastructure teams to design robust data pipelines, implement ETL processes, and apply statistical and ML methods to optimize soft real-time systems.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Robotics, Computer Science or related field with 1–3 years of professional experience.
• Proficient in C++ or Python programming and software design.
• Experience with ETL pipelines and data analysis.
• Knowledge of Linux fundamentals and soft real-time system concepts.

What we are looking for

We’re searching for a Software Engineer for our Performance Engineering Optimization (PEO) team.

The PEO team aims to empower Aurorans to reduce onboard software latency & improve hardware utilization by:

Building production-level tooling & processes to ensure software performs as required.

Provide for rapid robotic software performance experimentation through data-driven feedback loops.

Building tooling to discover & diagnose software & hardware performance problems.

Help autonomy engineers determine the cause and effect relationship between onboard events.

In this role, you will

Create and contribute to tooling that probes, collects & processes monumental amounts of performance data both on-vehicle & in-simulation.

Design, build, and maintain robust, cost-effective data pipelines and processing systems that ingest and transform data across sources into our warehouse, supporting downstream tools for performance visualization and analysis

Collaborate cross functionally with engineers in various domains within Aurora, including Autonomy, Sensing, Vehicle Platform Infrastructure on optimization efforts.

Required Qualifications

C++ or Python programming and software design skills.

Knowledge of ETL pipelines.

Ability to apply statistical and ML methods for data analysis.

Experience and knowledge of Linux fundamentals.

BS or MS in Robotics, Computer Science or a related field with 1-3 years of professional experience.

Desirable Qualifications

Knowledge and interest in cloud storage, cloud based data pipelines.

Experience in data science and data engineering on cloud platforms.

Familiarity with Linux OS fundamentals and basic concepts of performance optimization for soft real-time systems.

The base salary range for this position is $116,000 - $174,000 per Year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
