Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Software Engineer to support manufacturing shop floor applications, including HMI/SCADA interfaces, machine tools, and reporting tools. You will analyze performance, troubleshoot, and adapt legacy systems to current technologies.

The role requires a STEM degree and 2+ years in software engineering within manufacturing; familiarity with .NET/Java/Python, Oracle/SQL Server, and version control is preferred. Onsite work with RTX manufacturing teams is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 2+ years of software engineering experience in manufacturing operations or similar environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and a programming language such as .NET, Java, or Python.
  • Experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server or other relational databases; experience with Git or other source control tools.

What You Will Do:

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Software Engineer to support their manufacturing shop floor. The Software Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day development, support, and troubleshooting of custom and off-the-shelf manufacturing applications. This will include but not limited to: Machine tool HMI screens, reporting or visualization tools such as manufacturing tracking and priority systems, Manufacturing process data consolidation, and Statistical Process Control tools (SPC). Design and create HMI / SCADA interfaces for shop floor machine tools. Design and create custom business applications to collect, analyze and report data critical to plant operations. Analyze application performance and debug and/or repair as necessary. Modify custom applications to accommodate new functionality needed to satisfy compliance or business requirements. Design reporting solutions and present a mock-up of the expected reporting output for review and approval. Convert legacy software applications to current technologies.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 2 or more years of experience in software engineering, in manufacturing operations or similar environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Experience with a programming language such as .Net, Java, or Python.
  • Experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server or other relational databases Experience with source control tools such as Git Self-Starter, works well with minimal supervision
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience in automation or robotic applications PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting experience (Allen Bradley Studio 5000, Factory Talk)
  • Experience with the Ignition by Inductive Automation software platform
  • Computer Science or Engineering degree (computer, software, or electrical)
  • Experience creating reports and data analysis

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
