Brivo, Inc. in Bethesda is seeking a Software Engineer - New Grad to join our Engineering team, specifically the Video and Access areas. You will be treated as a full member from day one, attend standups, and own real deliverables that reach customers globally.

The role targets recent graduates with curiosity and a passion for learning. Proficiency in Python, Java, or Node.js/TypeScript, Linux, and Git is welcomed, with AWS and Docker familiarity preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field required.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Node.js/TypeScript.
• Basic SQL and Linux command line understanding.
• Familiarity with Git and REST APIs.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and containers (Docker).
• Experience with automated testing (Playwright) and OAuth/OIDC concepts.

Description

Brivo is hiring Software Engineers to join our Engineering organization across two high-impact teams: Video (our global cloud video surveillance platform) and Access (the backend and cloud services powering Brivo's physical security platform). This posting is your gateway to either team — during the interview process, we'll work with you to find the best fit based on your background, interests, and our current team needs.

This role is built for recent college graduates who are curious, eager to learn, and ready to grow into professional software engineers with the support of experienced mentors. You'll be treated as a full member of the team from day one: attending standups, participating in code reviews, and owning real deliverables that reach customers globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Build with cutting-edge AI: Leverage the latest AI models to rapidly prototype, develop, and iterate on next-generation security products, APIs, and MCP servers.
• Deploy at startup speed: Collaborate within small, agile product teams alongside other top-notch product engineers to test new ideas and push code to production on a weekly—or even daily—basis.
• Scale your impact: Capitalize on the powerful, newly integrated Brivo and Eagle Eye platform to build everything from bespoke applications for boutique clients to rock-solid, enterprise-grade security suites.
• Bring fresh, AI-native innovation: Apply your deep curiosity to maximize our platform's potential. No prior industry experience is required—just an unstoppable drive to learn, iterate, and create.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Working knowledge of at least one of: Python, Java, or Node.js/TypeScript (coursework, internships, or personal projects all count)
• Basic understanding of databases and SQL
• Comfort using Linux and running shell commands
• Familiarity with Git or another version control system
• Strong curiosity, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail

• Intro-level knowledge of networking concepts (IP, ports, protocols, APIs)
• Experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS
• Exposure to Docker or containerized environments
• Familiarity with REST APIs and HTTP fundamentals
• Experience writing automated tests (e.g., Playwright)
• Exposure to authentication/authorization concepts (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, Auth0)

The compensation for this full time salaried role ranges between $70,000-$80,000. Individual compensation packages are based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, training, and market conditions.
