Job summary

Twilio is hiring a Software Engineer (L2) to build and scale Stytch's identity capabilities within Twilio's platform. You will develop backend systems powering authentication, authorization, and non-human identity use cases for Twilio's broad customer base.

You'll work alongside product and engineering leadership to ship high-impact features, own critical technical decisions, and mentor team members in a fast-paced, startup-like environment backed by Twilio's scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years designing and operating high-scale cloud-based production systems.
• Production-grade code within a modern language; write high-quality code.
• Extensive experience with RESTful API design and development.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work non-standard on-call rotation hours.

Responsibilities

• Build backend product capabilities for Stytch's identity platform on Twilio—shipping new API surfaces and core authentication flows.
• Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to set direction and deliver roadmap features.
• Collaborate across Twilio and Stytch teams to align on architecture and unblock initiatives.
• Own design docs, drive technical decisions, review code, and stay close to the systems you ship.
• Break down ambiguity, make pragmatic tradeoffs, and design developer experiences that delight customers.
• Improve production quality and resilience through observability and incident response.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, feedback, and knowledge sharing.

About the job

This position is needed to build and scale Stytch's core product as we bring Stytch capabilities to Twilio's full customer base, delivering secure, developer-first identity experiences.

Join the Stytch team at Twilio to shape the next generation of identity products. You'll build backend systems that power authentication, authorization, and emerging agentic and non-human identity use cases. You'll partner closely with product and engineering leadership to design and deliver high-impact, customer-facing features, and evolve our platform for Twilio scale. Responsibilities

• Build in ambiguity-break down complex problems, make pragmatic tradeoffs, and design developer experiences that delight our customers.
• Improve production quality and resilience through strong observability, incident response and remediation.
• Mentor and support other engineers through pairing, feedback, and knowledge-sharing, helping raise the team's technical bar and culture.

*Required:

• 3+ years experience in designing, building and operating high-scale, mission critical cloud based production systems.
• Familiarity with a production-grade code base in a modern programming language, applying best practice coding standards and writing high quality code.
• Extensive experience with RESTful API design and development.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related industry experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Schedule: ability to work non-standard, on-call rotation weekend and holiday hours.

• Familiarity with Go, TypeScript, and DynamoDB
• Experience building developer tools or SDKs
• Experience building and owning products consumed by paying customers

This role is US remote.

Travel

Compensation

*Please note the salary range information provided applies only to candidates residing in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington D.C., and Washington State due to local requirements. Compensation for candidates in other locations will be discussed during the hiring process. Please note that hiring for this role is not restricted to the locations listed above.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

• Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C. : $106,320 - 132,900
• Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $112,560 - 140,700
• Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $125,040 - 156,300
• This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
