About the Role

Sonar is seeking a Software Engineer (Java) to join the Platform Team supporting SonarQube's on-premises platform. You will build and enhance critical backend services that enable seamless installation, upgrades, scalable operation, and reliable delivery of SonarQube for a global customer base.

This role combines Java backend development, system architecture, databases, performance optimization, automated testing, and CI/CD. You will collaborate with other development squads, contribute to architectural decisions, troubleshoot complex platform challenges, and help deliver reliable software for developers and organizations worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance core backend services for SonarQube's on-premises platform.
• Build solutions supporting seamless installation, upgrades, and scalable platform operations.
• Design and implement robust backend solutions using Java, Spring, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch.
• Ensure platform stability, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with development squads to guide continuous integration, testing, and packaging.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience developing with Java, including writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
• Strong understanding of system architecture and design patterns.
• Understanding of performance optimization.
• Experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Experience writing efficient SQL queries.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing.
• Experience with CI/CD practices.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Ability to take ownership of complex technical challenges and drive solutions through production.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
