Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) in Pullman, WA, seeks a Software Engineer Intern who is pursuing a CS degree, can work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer, and contribute to Linux-based development.

You will gain hands-on experience, learn from world-class engineers, and help develop firmware and software while expanding your skills in CI/CD, containers, and DevOps.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a computer science degree with at least one year of coursework.
• Part-time during the school year and full-time during summer.
• Programming experience in C#, C++, Java or equivalent OO language.
• Ability to execute and document defined testing procedures.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Able to learn new skills and work well in a team.
• Background check satisfactory and negative drug test.

Responsibilities

• Support SEL’s software development process.
• Verify that software meets requirements through testing and validation.
• Implement firmware and software designs.
• Develop, test, and maintain code in a collaborative team environment.
• Work with Linux-based development environments and tools.
• Use containers and containerized workflows to support development and testing.
• Support DevOps practices, including CI/CD and deployment processes.
