Job summary

Keysight is seeking a motivated student for a software engineering role in Massachusetts. You will assist with software development, testing, and bug investigations under guidance from experienced engineers, contributing to projects interfacing with hardware and test equipment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
• Intermediate proficiency in both C and C++, demonstrated through coursework or projects.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; able to investigate technical problems and devise practical solutions.
• Ability to clearly communicate technical information and document engineering work.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other engineers and incorporate feedback.
• Willingness to learn unfamiliar software, tools, technologies, and existing codebases.

Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
• Intermediate proficiency in both C and C++, demonstrated through coursework, academic projects, personal projects, or previous work experience.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate technical problems and develop practical solutions.
• Ability to clearly communicate technical information and document engineering work.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other engineers, ask questions, and incorporate feedback.
• Willingness to learn unfamiliar software, tools, technologies, and existing codebases.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience debugging software, including reproducing issues, using debugging tools, and analyzing program behavior.
• Experience reading, understanding, and modifying an existing or unfamiliar codebase.
• Experience with Windows desktop UI development or frameworks such as MFC, WinForms, WPF, or Qt.
• Experience developing and debugging software using Microsoft Visual Studio in a Windows environment.
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with appropriate guidance.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with C#.
• Familiarity with Git or another source control system.
• Basic knowledge of networking concepts or hardware/software interfaces.
• Exposure to software or system testing, including executing test cases and documenting results.

The level of role will be based on applicable experience, education and skills. Most offers will be between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary listed below. For other locations, pay ranges will vary by region.
