Job summary

Garmin invites applications for a Software Engineering Intern position for Summer 2027 at the Chandler, AZ office. You will learn software development for Garmin’s navigation products in a team-driven setting under supervision, contributing to real-world projects across Embedded, DevOps, Mobile and Web teams.

You will gain hands-on experience by coding in C/C++, Java, and related languages, performing tests with debuggers and simulators, and participating in software releases and QA activities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description
• GPA at least 3.0 on a cumulative basis
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Experience or training in C, C++, C# or Java relevant to Garmin’s needs
• Experience or training in data structures or OO design relevant to Garmin’s needs

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Software Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 at Garmin's Chandler, AZ office. In this role, you will be responsible for learning and training to develop software for Garmin's communication and navigation products in a team-oriented environment under supervision. Interns will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects within one of Garmin’s software development teams, including Embedded Software, DevOps, Mobile and Web.

Essential Functions

• Learn to develop software in C, C++, Assembly language, or other selected languages for Garmin communication and navigation products in accordance with Garmin’s software development methodology with guidance
• Learn to test software using debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers
• Learn to perform software releases and software quality assurance activities
• Learn to perform maintenance activities for products already in production in addition to new product software design
• Associates are expected to integrate, use, and provide feedback on products in development when possible as part of their normal job responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description
• Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Must possess relevant experience and/or training in a high-level language such as C, C++, C# or Java relevant to Garmin’s business needs
• Must possess relevant experience and/or training in data structures or object-oriented design methodology relevant to Garmin’s business needs

Desired Qualifications

• Pursuing a master's degree in Geomatics, Aerospace or Software engineering
• Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
• Previous experience working in a team environment
