Job summary

Orb Staging is seeking a senior infrastructure engineer to own reliability and performance for the product. You will help ensure systems stay operational, with a focus on recovery, observability, and scalable real-time processing.

You will mentor peers and collaborate with multiple engineering teams to implement robust features, manage growth, and reduce downtime across services. A hybrid in-office schedule is available for SF Bay Area/NYC teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, and 4+ years in infrastructure.
• Strong debugging and performance troubleshooting skills.
• Experience building scalable infrastructure for a high-growth product.

Responsibilities

About the role:

As a senior member of the infrastructure team, you’ll play a key role in maintaining a high bar for reliability. Our customers depend on our systems being operational, as downtime can directly lead to lost revenue. You’ll be responsible for the infrastructure powering the entire product, from event ingestion, API services, alerting, invoicing, and everything in between.

For SF Bay Area and NYC residents, we’ve built a hybrid work culture where we are in office 3 days/week. For remote roles, we ask you to join us in person 1x per quarter.

In this role you will:

• Lead infrastructure resiliency efforts – recovery mechanisms, tenant isolation, load spike handling, etc.
• Improve observability and operability of our systems.
• Build performance‑critical, user‑facing infrastructure (e.g., real‑time event processing).
• Plan scaling initiatives to handle large customer growth.
• Partner with other engineering teams to ensure we build reliable product features.
• Learn from a talented peer group, and share your expertise.

About you:

• You think deeply about edge cases, failure modes, bottlenecks, etc.
• You have a knack for investigating and debugging tricky errors and performance issues.
• You enjoy building scalable infrastructure for a high‑growth product.
• You can effectively mentor fellow engineers on best practices (observability, rollout strategies, risk mitigation, etc).
• You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, and you’ve worked in the infrastructure domain for 4+ years.
