Job summary

Google Public Sector seeks a software engineer to lead the design, deployment, and operation of air-gapped services for US government customers. You will work on large-scale distributed systems, contributing across the full stack and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will shape secure, reliable platforms and help public sector institutions transform digitally, with opportunities to influence architecture and software design at Google scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance with current polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Own the entire life-cycle of Google Public Sector air-gapped services from inception to deployment, operation, and refinement.
• Support services before go-live through system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
• Maintain services once live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
• Scale systems sustainably through automation and changes that improve reliability and velocity.
• Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
