Job Title: Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (Sr. SDET)
The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade test automation solutions that ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of complex web, mobile, and API-driven applications. The role requires advanced expertise in object-oriented programming, automation framework architecture, cloud-based test execution, and AI-assisted testing approaches. The Sr. SDET works closely with product owners, developers, architects, and DevOps engineers to define test strategy, embed quality into the software development lifecycle, and drive continuous testing within CI/CD pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reusable test automation frameworks using Java and JavaScript with Selenium WebDriver and Playwright, applying design patterns such as Page Object Model, data-driven, and keyword-driven approaches.
- Build and execute automated test suites for web and mobile (iOS and Android) applications across multiple browsers, devices, and platforms.
- Develop automated API test suites for RESTful web services using Rest Assured and Postman, validating request/response payloads, schemas, authentication mechanisms, status codes, and service integrations.
- Research, evaluate, and implement AI-driven testing capabilities and agentic solutions, including intelligent test generation, self-healing locators, autonomous test agents, and AI-assisted defect analysis, to improve test coverage and efficiency.
- Integrate automated test execution into CI/CD pipelines and leverage cloud-based infrastructure and device/browser grids for parallel and distributed test execution.
- Define and own test strategy, test plans, and test approach documents aligned with business requirements, system architecture, and release objectives.
- Perform and oversee Functional, Regression, Smoke/Sanity, Integration, and End-to-End testing across distributed application layers.
- Lead defect triage sessions, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with development teams to prioritize and resolve defects.
- Establish quality metrics, test coverage reporting, and dashboards to provide stakeholders with visibility into product quality and release readiness.
- Review code and test scripts, enforce automation coding standards, and mentor team members on automation best practices and framework usage.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives, contributing to acceptance criteria and testability of user stories.
