Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a Software Engineer III in Plano, TX to join an agile team delivering trusted technology products securely and at scale.

You will design and develop infrastructure and application components using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud platforms, while leveraging enterprise AI-assisted tools to improve quality and speed. You will apply modern SDLC practices, write secure code, and troubleshoot across systems.

Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools with ability to evaluate, validate, and refine AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations and secure handling.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and interpret large data sets to aid secure, stable application development.
  • Learn and apply system processes for secure, stable code and systems.

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives

Job responsibilities:
  • Design and Build Infrastructure Components:Design and build robust infrastructure components to support our technology solutions.
  • Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
  • Build Application Components:Develop application components using Java, ensuring high-quality and secure code.
  • Write Secure Code:Write secure, high-quality code with minimal guidance, considering the impact on upstream and downstream systems.
  • Design, Develop, and Troubleshoot:Design, develop, code, and troubleshoot with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications.
  • Designing and implementing infrastructure and application components on Azure and AwS.
  • Support Deployments and Configuration:Support deployments and configuration management to ensure smooth operations.
  • Data Analysis:Gather, analyze, and draw conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development.
  • Learn and Apply System Processes:Learn and apply system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Hands‑on experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
  • Hands‑on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a corporate environment using modern programming and database querying languages.
  • Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and API development.
  • Hands‑on experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Kubernetes for automating deployments, scaling, and management.
  • Proficiency with SQL databases.
  • Experience with scripting technologies such as Shell and Python.
  • Knowledge of API gateways and their configuration.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Proficiency in UI development using Angular or React.
  • Understanding of networking concepts.
  • Comprehensive experience across the entire SDLC.
  • Experience with Terraform for automating infrastructure tasks.
