Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a Software Engineer III in Austin to join an agile team focused on building secure, scalable financial tech products.

You will design, deliver, and troubleshoot software solutions across multiple domains while leveraging AI-assisted tooling to improve quality and speed. You will work with Java, RESTful APIs, and modern JavaScript frameworks, including React, with cloud experience across AWS/GCP/Azure.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering with 3+ years of applied experience.
• Solid CS fundamentals, algorithms, and data structures.
• Experience with Java, RESTful APIs, and microservices architectures.
• CI/CD pipelines and Git/Bitbucket for source control.
• Proficiency with JavaScript frameworks (ReactJS/Angular/Vue.js).
• Strong React state management (Redux/Context API) and asynchronous JS.
• Experience with automated testing (Jest, Cypress, Storybook).
• Cloud experience on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Ability to work with AI-assisted development tools and secure coding practices.

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Banking sector, you will be an experienced member of an agile team. Your responsibilities include designing and delivering secure, stable, and scalable technology products. Additionally, you will implement critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas to support various business functions and help achieve the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

• Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Creates secure and high‑quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
• Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
• Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
• Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
• Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
• Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
• Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, algorithms, and data structures.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience with Java, RESTful APIs, and Microservices architectures.
• Practical knowledge of CI/CD, Jenkins, and source code management tools such as Git and Bitbucket.
• Practical experience with JavaScript technologies such as ReactJS or Angular, Vue.js.
• Strong understanding of component based architecture using React JS, enhancing code quality with TypeScript, closures and asynchronous programming using JavaScript, and building scalable, server-side applications using NodeJS.
• Hands‑on professional experience in managing state within React applications, utilizing tools such as Redux and Context API to handle complex state logic and ensure seamless data flow across components.
• Hands‑on professional experience with automation test frameworks like Jest, Cypress and Storybook to write unit tests, component tests, contract tests, CSS techniques and frameworks.
• Experience working on Cloud platform (AWS/GCP or Azure).
• Hands‑on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Familiarity with modern front-end technologies.
• Exposure to cloud technologies - AWS, S3, EKS, IAM, Aurora Postgres, Lambda
