Job summary

JPMorganChase & Co. seeks a Software Engineer III to join the Business Access & Tools division. You will work on a seasoned agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, scalable way.

You will design, develop, and maintain backend services and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and TypeScript, and leverage AWS-based deployments and AI-assisted development tools to improve quality and speed.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts with 3+ years of applied experience.
• Backend experience with Java 21, SpringBoot, Spring Cloud.
• Frontend experience with TypeScript and JavaScript.
• Experience implementing microservices architecture using Spring Cloud.
• Experience maintaining AWS infrastructure with IaC, Lambda, S3, Kafka.
• Solid system design, development, testing, and operational stability.
• Experience in a large corporate environment with modern programming languages and DB querying.
• Experience using enterprise AI-assisted development tools and evaluating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure handling, resiliency and security expectations.
• Knowledge of SDLC and CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.

Responsibilities

• Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or breakdown technical problems
• Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables, while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, agentic workflows using TypeScript and APIs using Java, and Spring Boot
• Implement micro-services architecture leveraging Spring Cloud for service discovery, configuration, and resilience
• Containerize and deploy applications on AWS using services such as ECS, EKS, Lambda, or EC2.
• Implement and maintain AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Implements reactive programming paradigms for high-performance systems
• Apply 12-factor app principles and best practices for cloud-native development
• Design and execute performance and load tests using JMeter or Blazemeter
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
• Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
• Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems

You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
