Job summary

Google is seeking a Software Engineer III, Infrastructure for Google Cloud in Sunnyvale, CA. You will help build a performant node management agent and work closely with cluster management software, the Linux kernel, and hardware platforms to support scale and reliability.

You will participate in design reviews, implement low-level systems, review code, and collaborate with partner teams across Google Cloud to deliver robust infrastructure for billions of users and services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Design, implement, and analyze low-level computer systems and their interactions with the Linux kernel and hardware.
  • Collaborate with partner teams as well as users across Google e.g., cluster management teams, ML teams, hardware platform teams, SRE teams, Google Cloud.

Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
  • Experience in low-level systems programming languages (e.g., C++ or C).
  • Experience working on the Linux Kernel.
Preferred qualifications
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience working with computer architecture.
  • Experience in operating systems.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US Salary Range: $147,000 - $210,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
