Job summary

Google is seeking a Software Engineer III focused on Engineering Productivity. The role drives engineering velocity by building scalable tools and infrastructure that empower teams to develop, test, debug, and release software quickly at scale.

You will work on cross-team initiatives, contribute to the AI-powered platform for automated test plans, and help maintain code health, quality, and best practices across Google’s products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience building developer tools (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Pixel and Wearables software test team plays a key role in delivering devices with exceptional software/hardware integrated quality. We build the next generation of tools that redefine testing efficiency and effectiveness. In this role, you will develop our AI-powered platform that automates the creation of comprehensive, test plans, ensuring products are tested against the scenarios that matter most.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
