Job description

WHAT IS BOX?

Box (NYSE: BOX) is the leader in Intelligent Content Management. Our platform enables organizations to fuel collaboration, manage the entire content lifecycle, secure critical content, and transform business workflows with enterprise AI. We help companies thrive in the new AI-first era of business. Founded in 2005, Box simplifies work for leading global organizations, including JLL, Morgan Stanley, and Nationwide. Box is headquartered in Redwood City, CA, with offices across the United States, Europe, and Asia.

By joining Box, you will have the unique opportunity to continue driving our platform forward. Content powers how we work. It's the billions of files and information flowing across teams, departments, and key business processes every single day: contracts, invoices, employee records, financials, product specs, marketing assets, and more. Our mission is to bring intelligence to the world of content management and empower our customers to completely transform workflows across their organizations. With the combination of AI and enterprise content, the opportunity has never been greater to transform how the world works together — and at Box you will be on the front lines of this massive shift.

WHY BOX NEEDS YOU

Box is building a new US-based Developer Platform team from the ground up, and we're looking for engineers who want to shape the foundation. This team is responsible for the tools, infrastructure, and experiences that power how developers and admins interact with the Box platform — from SDK apps and analytics to self-service admin hubs and developer onboarding. The work you do here will directly reduce developer friction, improve internal efficiency, and drive measurable cost savings and monetization via tools and APIs across the company.

You will work closely with an adaptable, high-impact team to rapidly prototype solutions, build scalable platform capabilities, and contribute to initiatives that reach the highest levels of the organization. If you're energized by greenfield problems, passionate about analytics and data, and want your work to have real, visible impact — this is the role for you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management and cross-functional partners to shape and execute the strategic roadmap for Box’s Developer Platform, spanning APIs, developer tools, SDKs, applications, analytics, and enterprise platform capabilities.

  • Build and evolve the Developer Platform: Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable platform capabilities that make it easier for developers and SaaS providers to build, integrate, and innovate on Box.

  • Improve developer experience: Build and maintain developer sandboxes, onboarding experiences, testing environments, and self-service tools that reduce friction for internal and external developers.

  • Drive innovation from concept to launch: Contribute to ideation, rapidly prototype new capabilities, and take high-impact features from concept through production. Partner closely with senior engineering leadership to develop prototypes and solutions for high-visibility management reviews.

  • Partner across the organization: Work closely with Product, Design, UX, Developer Relations, Support, and other engineering teams to deliver customer-centric solutions and align technical execution with business goals.

  • Build enterprise platform experiences: Develop and iterate on self-service app hubs, admin experiences, and entitlement visibility tools that give enterprise customers greater control and transparency over their integrations and platform usage.

  • Leverage data to improve the platform: Work with large-scale datasets and big data technologies to generate insights and drive improvements in billing, platform efficiency, and the overall developer experience.

  • Ensure operational excellence: Participate in the on-call rotation, respond to and triage production issues, and continuously monitor and improve platform performance, reliability, and scalability.

  • Provide strong technical leadership: Serve as a technical voice on the team, uphold high engineering and code-quality standards, and influence architecture, design, and implementation decisions across the platform.

  • Lead complex, cross-team initiatives: Own technically complex projects with internal and external dependencies, driving alignment and execution across multiple teams while delivering solutions that enable Box customers and SaaS providers—including some of the world’s largest technology companies to build on the Box Platform.
