JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking an experienced Software Engineer III to help build secure, scalable mobile experiences within Self Directed Investing. You’ll contribute across the software life cycle, from design to deployment, and collaborate with teams to implement cutting-edge technology.

You will work within an agile environment, utilize enterprise AI tools, and focus on reliability, testing, and secure coding practices while growing your expertise in mobile development.

Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 3+ years applied experience.
  • 3+ years of combined software/application development experience in mobile development.
  • 1+ year of AI engineering experience building native mobile apps.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot secure production code with high quality standards.
  • Review and debug code written by teammates and optimize for stability.
  • Identify opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability of software.
  • Leverage enterprise AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity, with peer review and secure coding practices.

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Consumer & Community Banking division under Self Directed Investing, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Job responsibilities
  • Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
  • Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • 3+ years of combined software/application development experience in mobile development
  • 1+ year of AI engineering experience building native mobile apps
  • Strong Android development background in developing mobile applications using Kotlin
  • Familiarity with architecture patterns such as MVVM, MVP, MVC
  • Experience with modern native mobile development tools and systems (git, Xcode, CocoaPods, Swift Package Manager, CoreData, Android Studio, Robolectric, Mockito, Espresso, RxJava, Dagger, Retrofit)
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Agile development including daily scrum and weekly iteration reviews and planning
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Familiarity with how to optimize code for phones, testing with phones, and challenges with mobile devices
  • Familiarity with several languages: Swift, Kotlin, Objective-C, Java, C++, JavaScript, Ruby, Python
  • Experience with Git source control management
  • Experience consuming RESTful web services from a mobile platform
  • Advanced communication skills with the ability to clarify application requirements with business partners in addition to relying on technical requirements documentation
