Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Plano, TX, seeks a Software Engineer III to join the Transformative AI Team within Asset & Wealth Management.

You will design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, scalable way, contributing to the Private Bank AI pilot initiative with mortgage as the first focus area. You will work on GenAI solutions, prompt-based NLP tasks, and data pipelines, leveraging enterprise AI tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and security.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools with ability to evaluate, validate, and refine AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and resiliency and security expectations.

Responsibilities

• Exposure to the development and implementation of GenAI and Agentic AI solutions to enhance automation and decision-making processes.
• Knowledge on the design, deployment, and management of prompt-based models on LLMs for various NLP tasks in the financial services domain.
• Leverages AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
• Applies SDLC toolchain knowledge, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve value of automation.
• Builds and maintains data pipelines and data processing workflows for prompt engineering on LLMs using cloud services for scalability.
• Delivers software solutions with design, development, and troubleshooting, thinking beyond routine approaches.
• Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex apps and ensures design constraints are met.
• Gathers, analyzes, and visualizes data for continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
• Identifies hidden data patterns to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture.

You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities:

• Exposure to the development and implementation of GenAI and Agentic AI solutions to enhance automation and decision-making processes.
• Knowledge on the design, deployment, and management of prompt-based models on LLMs for various NLP tasks in the financial services domain.
• Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
• Build and maintain data pipelines and data processing workflows for prompt engineering on LLMs utilizing cloud services for scalability and efficiency.
• Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
• Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
• Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
• Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
• Strong programming skills in Java or Python.
• Experience building data pipelines for both structured and unstructured data processing.
• Experience in developing APIs and integrating NLP or LLM models into software applications.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) for AI/ML deployment and data processing.
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
• Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

• Experience working on Frameworks (Spring boot, Microservices, REST API Development, Design Patterns, etc.)
