Software Engineer III

Professional DE

Salary Range: €84,042.00 To €93,380.00 Annually

As a Software Engineer III you will be responsible for building and operating a new orchestration platform for remote SIM provisioning based on the GSMA SGP.32 standard. You will develop production services in Go (Golang) on AWS and help shape a platform that is central to the team's future work.

Our environment includes Amazon EKS, DynamoDB, GitLab CI/CD, and Datadog. The team also owns established SIM lifecycle services written in Java and Scala. You will help keep these services reliable and make targeted improvements when needed, but our primary need is a strong Go backend engineer.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who can take work from an initial problem through design and delivery to running it in production. Success means delivering useful, well-scoped solutions at a predictable pace, communicating decisions clearly, and helping the team improve its engineering practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build, test, deploy, and operate scalable Go services for a remote SIM provisioning platform based on SGP.32.
  • Own complex features from requirement clarification and technical design through rollout and production support.
  • Design clear APIs, integrations, and event-driven workflows, choosing pragmatic solutions that address current needs while allowing the platform to evolve.
  • Support existing Java and Scala SIM lifecycle services and make targeted improvements when required.
  • Investigate production issues and improve reliability, performance, security, and observability.
  • Maintain effective automated tests and contribute to architecture, design, and code reviews.
  • Work closely with product, platform, operations, and other engineering teams, communicating decisions, trade-offs, risks, and progress clearly.
  • Support colleagues through constructive feedback, documentation, pairing, and technical guidance.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. A master's degree is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of professional software development experience, including substantial recent experience building production backend systems in Go.
  • Experience designing and operating backend APIs, distributed services, and service-oriented or event-driven systems.
  • Practical experience with AWS, containerized services, Kubernetes, and cloud-based production environments.
  • Sound database fundamentals, including SQL, data modelling, and experience working with NoSQL data stores such as key-value or document databases.
  • Experience with automated testing, Git-based development, CI/CD, and reliable production delivery.
  • Experience troubleshooting production systems and using logs, metrics, traces, and alerts to understand their behaviour. Familiarity with Datadog or a comparable platform is valuable.
  • A record of independently delivering well-scoped solutions, incorporating feedback, and communicating technical decisions clearly.
  • Effective and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools, including careful review of generated output for correctness, security, maintainability, and suitability for the problem.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with existing services written in Java or Scala.
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon EKS, DynamoDB, GitLab CI/CD, or Datadog.
  • Experience with Kafka or another messaging or streaming platform.
  • Experience in IoT, telecommunications, eSIM, or remote SIM provisioning. Knowledge of GSMA SGP.32 is especially valuable.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership within a delivery team.
