Job summary

Spectraforce Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer III for a remote, 12+ month engagement.

The role focuses on building AI-native systems that automate processes across data platforms and enterprise systems, with agentic workflows and human-in-the-loop safety. You will design data models, implement full-stack apps using Next.js and TypeScript, and integrate with CRM/ERP-like systems while leveraging AI-assisted development tools for coding, review, and refactoring.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Experience building production-grade AI-enabled systems.
  • Proficient in TypeScript/JavaScript and modern React frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build agentic workflows that operate against real operational data, including tool and function interfaces, context and retrieval strategies, evaluation harnesses, and the guardrails and human-in-the-loop checkpoints that make autonomous action safe.
  • Design and implement entity and object schemas in a custom ORM-style data framework, including authorization and validation rules, so that agents and applications read and write through a single governed data layer.
  • Build full-stack web applications using Next.js (React and TypeScript), API routes, and modern frontend patterns, including interfaces for reviewing, approving, and correcting agent-initiated work.
  • Build and extend integrations with the organization's enterprise systems of record, including custom objects, triggers, automation, mutation and validation logic, and reporting.
  • Define API contracts, data migration strategies, and rollback and conflict-resolution patterns for systems running in parallel during transition.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent) as a core part of the daily workflow for implementation, code review, and refactoring.
  • Identify manual, high-friction business processes in partnership with operations stakeholders, then propose and ship the agentic or automated replacement and measure the time and cost it recovers.
  • Participate in the team oncall rotation for the tools you build, triaging and resolving production issues in internal systems.

Job description

Job Title:

Software Engineer III

Duration:

12+ months (Possibility of extension)

Location:

Remote

Summary:
  • The Software Engineer will build the AI-native systems that change how the organization does its work. This is not a role for wiring up business logic behind a form. The goal is to take processes that today depend on people manually moving information between systems and rebuild them as agentic workflows: software that reasons over the organization's data, takes action against its systems of record, and keeps a human in the loop where judgment is required. The engineer will design and build the data platform, the full-stack applications, and the agent and tool layers that make this possible, using AI-assisted development as a core part of how the work ships.
Must-Have Skills:
  • Tools Engineering (full stack)
  • GraphQL / PHP / ORM Framework experience
  • AI Development Workflows
Nice-to-have Skills:
  • Next.js / Vercel
  • Salesforce and CRM Knowledge
Years of overall experience required:
  • 5+
Job Responsibilities:
Required Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript, and modern React frameworks (Next.js preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience building LLM-backed features in production, not prototypes: tool and function calling, retrieval, prompt and context engineering, and evaluation of non-deterministic output.
  • Strong SQL and relational data modeling, including experience with entity-modeling frameworks, ORMs, or GraphQL schema design.
  • Experience integrating enterprise or third-party platform APIs into production applications.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants as a primary daily development workflow, not as an occasional aid.
  • Sound judgment about where autonomy is appropriate and where a human gate belongs, and the instinct to build observability into systems that act on their own.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, own problems end to end, and communicate clearly in writing.
  • Strong command of the full software development lifecycle, from business and systems analysis through requirements gathering and functional specification, to development, testing, and delivery.
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts in production systems, with the ability to make system changes as needed to resolve issues.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with agent frameworks, orchestration, or multi-step tool-using systems.
  • Experience building evaluation and regression testing for LLM systems.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise CRM or ERP platform development.
  • Experience with data warehouse technologies (Hive, Spark, BigQuery, Snowflake, or equivalent).
  • Experience with distributed event-streaming or message-bus systems (Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis, or equivalent).
  • Experience building internal business or operations tooling, particularly around budgets, finance workflows, or approvals.
Education/Experience:
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
Surrounding team & key projects:
  • Developer Ecosystem Success is part of the Metaverse Content organization, and contains two engineering teams, Metaverse Partner Engineering and Developer Relations Engineering. They are tasked with improving the quality of all content available on the Horizon store, in service to the ultimate goal of creating a self-sustaining developer ecosystem.
  • The teams work closely with developers through all phases of development and submission, providing invaluable design direction, performance analysis, API and integration help and debugging. Each team has a different focus, please contact the team leads for additional detail.
  • The engineering teams of Developer Ecosystem Success are the liaison between internal software teams and external partners, and serve as the spokespeople for developer needs.
Typical Day-to-Day in the role:
  • Building internal applications and agentic workflows that replace existing CRM-based operational processes
  • Consulting with cross-functional (XFN) partners to identify necessary changes
  • Integrating with third-party applications and ensuring data correctness across systems
  • Identifying pain points and troubleshooting issues
  • Collaborating with Data Engineers to ensure the right data is pulled, processed, and exposed to agents and applications
  • Working with full-time employees (FTEs) to ensure alignment on what they're building
  • Testing and creating automated CI/CD tests for functional parity and reliability
How will performance be measured:
  • Collaboration effectiveness with partners and cross-functional teams
  • Development velocity and delivery against project milestones
  • Quality and reliability of tools, including the accuracy and safety of agent-driven workflows
  • Successful migration of CRM functionality onto internal platforms
  • Documentation quality for handoff to long-term maintainers
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently
What makes this role interesting:
  • This is a unique opportunity to work on a high-impact, strategic initiative, helping to bring business-critical operations in-house and rebuild them using modern, AI-native internal tooling. Engineers in this role will gain hands-on experience with client's internal data infrastructure and custom entity-modeling frameworks, and will build production agentic systems on top of real operational data, working at the intersection of full-stack development, data engineering, and applied AI.
  • The role offers significant autonomy and the chance to shape how the Developer Ecosystem Success organization operates, directly impacting client's ability to support external developers building for the Horizon platform. Candidates will collaborate closely with data engineers, business operations stakeholders, and partner teams, gaining broad exposure across technical and business domains. With AI-assisted development tools integrated as a core part of the workflow, this is an ideal role for engineers who want to be at the forefront of how modern software is built.
