Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Level 2 Software Engineer to join the Lunar Apps team within the Lunar Permanence unit. You will develop tools that help store, analyze, and automate engineering data across complex systems to advance spaceflight capabilities.

The role requires a Bachelor's in CS or engineering, 3+ years of production software experience, and strong OO programming with Java or C++. Preferred experience includes AWS, React, Terraform, Docker, or Kubernetes, contributing to a culture

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products.

To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

We are seeking a Level 2 Software Engineer to join the Lunar Apps team in the Lunar Permanence business unit. Our team is responsible for developing innovative products that accelerate aerospace engineering and push the boundaries of what can be achieved with engineers collaborating across complex systems.

As an L2 Software Engineer, your passion and capability to rapidly develop innovative solutions will directly influence the creation of tools which change how Lunar Permanence will store, analyze, and automate engineering data. We are looking for someone to apply their technical know-how, drive to problem solve, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Key Responsibilities

• Collaborating extensively with other engineers to deliver features from our ambitious roadmap.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience writing software and deploying it to production environments.
• Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java or C++).
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and common data structures.
• Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) to deliver production-ready code.
• Ability to write efficient, working code given clear requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships in a team setting.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a passion for tackling complex technical challenges.
• A passion for space exploration and a commitment to Blue Origin's mission.

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace/systems engineering experience and/or experience developing software in an aerospace environment.
• Experience with React, Python or Javascript/Typescript as a primary language.
• Experience deploying software to AWS services such as RDS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, S3 using Terraform or similar infrastructure as code technologies.
• Familiar with Infrastructure as Code and relevant technologies.
• Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes or other relevant containerization technologies.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or other relevant aerospace industry experience.

Base Pay Range for:

• CO applicants is $123,714.00 - $173,199.60
• WA applicants is $134,961.00 - $188,945.40
• Other site ranges may differ
