Job summary

Relativity Space is building an automated rocket factory and launch platform. You will contribute to the frontend platform for the operator UI, developing the application shell, design system, and a shared data layer used across teams to build features.

You will implement modules, migrate features into a unified platform, and work with real-time telemetry. You’ll partner with senior engineers, focus on performance, and advance distributed UI architectures.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience building production web applications with strong TypeScript and React.
• Experience contributing to shared frontend codebases, component libraries, or design systems used by multiple teams.
• Foundational frontend performance skills: profiling, bottlenecks, and basic optimizations.

Responsibilities

About the team:

The Terrestrial Software team is building the foundation for an automated rocket factory and integrated launch platform. Their mission is to automate and streamline workflows across the entire lifecycle of Terran R, from raw material intake to launch operations and eventually manufacturing on Mars. Today, that means partnering directly with teams across design, materials, manufacturing, and test and launch to design, implement, and deploy end-user enterprise-wide applications, industrial automation, data analytics infrastructure, and next-generation AI to solve real problems and accelerate progress. Long term, the team is laying the groundwork for a modular, scalable software platform that can power highly autonomous operations on Earth and beyond. This is a team for builders and thinkers who thrive on cross-functional impact and want to shape the digital backbone of our future in space.

About the role:

• Contribute to the frontend platform for our operator UI — including the application shell, design system, and shared data layer that teams use to build features
• Implement frontend modules following the established architecture and contribution patterns that integrate into the unified application
• Support the consolidation effort by migrating features and components from separate front ends into the unified operator platform
• Work with real-time hardware telemetry, implementing UI components that render live data efficiently while meeting performance requirements
• Learn from senior engineers, participate in code reviews, and apply best practices to improve code quality and your own frontend skills

About you:

• Experience (typically 2+ years) building production web applications, with deep TypeScript and React expertise
• Experience contributing to shared frontend codebases, component libraries, or design systems used by multiple teams
• Foundational frontend performance skills: ability to use profiling tools, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement basic optimizations
• Experience working with state management patterns and real-time data updates in React applications (e.g., Redux, Context API, WebSocket integrations)
• Ability to collaborate effectively with senior engineers, receive technical mentorship, and contribute to architectural discussions.

Nice to haves but not required:

• Real-time data visualization / charting, or industrial control, SCADA, or hardware-in-the-loop experience
• Familiarity with binary streaming protocols (WebSockets/protobuf) and offloading work to Web Workers
• Experience with a monorepo build system (Bazel) or embedding code editors (Monaco)

Hiring Range:

$130,000 — $196,000 USD
