Job summary

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking software engineers to support DoD programs in Fort Wayne, IN. As a Software Engineer II, you will design, develop, and integrate embedded Linux systems, contributing across the development lifecycle with a focus on reliability and security.

You will own the Linux OS ecosystem areas including build toolchains, kernel, BSP, and device drivers for multiple boards, collaborating with IPTs to deliver robust solutions and meet program milestones onsite.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Experience as a command line user of Linux
  • Knowledge in embedded C/C++
  • Experience with scripting languages (Bash and Python)
  • Experience with board bring-up and target hardware integration
  • Experience with debugging and root cause investigations using hardware schematics and tools such as logic analyzer and Wireshark

Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer II, you will play an important role on an Integrated Program Team (IPT), contributing to the design, development, and integration of complex aerospace and defense systems. In this hands‑on role, you will work collaboratively with experienced engineers across the development lifecycle, gaining exposure to areas such as requirements development, design, implementation, verification, laboratory integration, troubleshooting, and system testing

What You Will Do

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
