Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace Anthem is seeking a Software Engineer II to design, develop, and integrate next‑generation avionics systems for fixed‑wing and Urban Air Mobility platforms. You will contribute across the full lifecycle, from system definition to validation and certification, in a hybrid Phoenix, AZ role with a strong emphasis on model-based development and testing.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in avionics software, proficiency in C/C++/Python, and experience with real-time OS and debugging

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
  • 2+ years of experience in software engineering, avionics, or related technical field (incl. internships, co-ops, or academic projects).
  • Experience with C, C++, Python, PowerShell; real-time OS experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support IMA systems software integration activities.
  • Assist with software validation and verification efforts.
  • Contribute to KPI tracking and validation.
  • Participate in requirements analysis and decomposition.
  • Support model-based development and system design activities.
  • Assist with integration testing and troubleshooting.

As a Software Engineer II here at Honeywell Aerospace Electronic Solutions team, you will help shape the future of flight by designing, developing, and integrating next‑generation avionics systems for both fixed‑wing aircraft and Urban Air Mobility platforms. You will play a hands‑on role across the full system lifecycle, from system definition and integration to validation and verification, supporting cutting‑edge avionics platforms. Your work will directly enable laboratory and on‑aircraft testing, ensuring performance, reliability, and certification readiness as these advanced systems move from concept to flight. LOCATION: Phoenix, AZ. WORK SCHEDULE: Hybrid. Note: For the first 90 days, New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite M‑F.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support IMA systems software integration activities
  • Assist with software validation and verification efforts
  • Contribute to Key Program Indicators (KPI) tracking and validation
  • Participate in requirements analysis and decomposition
  • Support model‑based development and system design activities
  • Assist with integration testing and troubleshooting
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 2+ years of experience in software engineering, avionics, or a related technical field (including internships, co‑ops, or academic projects)
  • Experience with programming languages C, C++, Python, PowerShell
  • Experience with real‑time operating systems (e.g., DEOS, ARINC 653)
  • Experience with debuggers like gdb, visual studio
WE VALUE
  • Exposure to software development lifecycle concepts and best practices
  • Exposure to IO Protocols like CAN, ARINC 429 etc.
  • Basic understanding of software integration, validation, and verification
  • Exposure to data loading standards or avionics communication protocols is a plus
  • Exposure to Avionics system, DO 178 B/C, DO 254, ARP4754A
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Self‑motivated individuals who take initiative and are eager to learn
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced environment
  • Effective communication skills and ability to apply new concepts quickly
