Job summary

Sierra Space Corporation is seeking a mid-level DevSecOps Software Engineer to design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes deployments across on-premises and air-gapped cloud environments. About the Role

The DevSecOps Software Engineer role involves deploying, configuring and maintaining a robust software development environment. This mid-level position requires a strong understanding of software development principles, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes deployments such as the Big Bang framework. This role spans both on-premises and cloud environments, with particular emphasis on air-gapped operations. The ideal candidate will design and maintain infrastructure using secure IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible, implement comprehensive observability solutions for proactive monitoring, and seamlessly integrate security practices throughout the development lifecycle. You must have strong expertise in container technologies, GitOps workflows, infrastructure as code, software development workflows, and security tooling. You should be comfortable collaborating with development teams to optimize processes and ensure high-quality, reproducible software delivery that meets stringent compliance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree).
• Typically, 2+ years of related experience.
• Strong understanding of at least one programming language, and general knowledge of others.
• Strong understanding of software development principles.
• Ability to design, code, test, and debug complex software development environments.
• Experience with different software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum/Kanban.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Security Plus or IAT2 certification
• Proven experience as a DevOps/DevSecOps Engineer
• Proficient in one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash)
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines (preferably using GitHub or GitLab)
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible
• Proficiency with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
• Experience with Windows and Linux software development
• Ability to identify bottlenecks in software development and create solutions to increase efficiencyStrong understanding of security and software development best practices and principles
• Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Google Professional DevOps Engineer)
• Experience with additional DevSecOps tools and methodologies.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Experience with logging and monitoring tools (ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana)
• Experience deploying and configuring GitLab and Artifactory
• Experience with C/C++ build tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Compensation

Pay Range:

$105,534.00 - $145,109.25

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education,experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
