Job summary

Wayfair is seeking an experienced software engineer in Boston to help build scalable, cloud-based platform services. You will contribute across Go, Java, and DevOps, shaping observability, reliability, and architectural patterns in a fast-growing environment.

  • Experience designing and building large-scale, cloud-based systems.
  • Experience operating distributed services, observability, logging, troubleshooting and incident response.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to influence results.

What You Will Do
  • Flex your strength and knowledge on Go, Java, DevOps, and service development environments.
  • Contribute to developing platform services that are built to industry best practices, including observability, architectural patterns, and reliability.
  • Write code to implement high‑quality, scalable, future‑proof services that will have effective system boundaries.
  • Participate in team planning and delivery meetings in a way that actively supports the goals and success of the team.
  • Identify risks and gaps in your assigned work and surface them to team leads.
  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and peers to define project requirements and execution plans.
We Are A Match Because You Have
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering, with a preference for candidates with a mix of start‑up and large‑company experience. eComm domain expertise is a bonus.
  • Hands‑on experience delivering software within high‑growth environments at scale.
  • Experienced in designing and building large‑scale, cloud‑based systems across various projects.
  • Experience operating distributed services at scale, including familiarity with observability tools, logging techniques, troubleshooting, and incident response.
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience driving solutions forward and ability to influence results.
  • Expertise with one or more modern programming language (such as Python, Java, C#, Scala, Go, or others).
  • Experience with one or more common open‑source platforms, tools and frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Kubernetes, containerization, Java microservices, GraphQL APIs, Aerospike, etc.).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Nice To Have
  • Experience with Cloud Services and Containerized Infrastructure.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD systems and best practices.
  • Experience with various automated testing and deployment approaches and tools.
  • Knowledgeable of microservice architecture and event‑driven design patterns.
  • Technical documentation experience.
