Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Software Development Engineer to help build and operate analytics services for customers in isolated air-gapped cloud environments. You will work on scalable, distributed systems and leverage AWS analytics offerings like Athena, LakeFormation, Redshift, OpenSearch, Glue, and SageMaker.

The role requires strong Linux and networking fundamentals, experience with large-scale systems, and a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

The Analytics ADC team is at the forefront of delivering AWS Analytics cloud services to our customers in isolated, air-gapped cloud environments. We are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in this rapidly evolving field, leveraging the power of cloud computing and the latest advancements in data technologies. With a focus on expanding Analytics services across air-gapped cloud regions, driving automation investments, and delivering open-source solutions, we are at the forefront of modernization. Our teams are innovating new ways of building massively scalable distributed systems and delivering the next generation of cloud computing with AWS offerings like Athena, LakeFormation, Redshift, OpenSearch, Glue, and SageMaker services.

A successful Software Development Engineer joining the team will be an innovator, building solutions and working closely with Amazon's largest and most demanding government customers to address their specific needs across a suite of Analytics services in air-gapped cloud environments. You understand networking technology and how servers and networks inter-relate. You regularly take part in deep-diving troubleshooting and conduct technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.

  • Have strong software and skills. The ideal candidate will have deep experience working with systems in a large scale, distributed environment. You understand networking technology and how servers and networks inter-relate. You are comfortable facilitating deep-diving troubleshooting and leading technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.

  • Love to solve problems. The ideal candidate will love leading teams to solve difficult technical problems related to AWS service builds and operations in air-gapped cloud environments. You have a solid understanding of systems design, operations, automation, and process improvement.

  • Think Big. The ideal candidate will work on projects building and deploying solutions across ADC partitions and regions. You will strive to build a culture to improve and streamline processes to allow for work on a massive scale.


This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.
