The Software Engineer II will also participate in software testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-functional development activities throughout the software development lifecycle. This position is well suited for an early-career engineer with strong programming fundamentals, practical exposure to .NET application development, and an interest in learning within a collaborative, regulated engineering environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, test, and maintain Windows desktop application features using C#, .NET, WPF, XAML, and MVVM under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Create and update user-interface components, including views, controls, styles, templates, data binding, commands, validation, and navigation.
  • Implement and modify application logic and service-layer components based on defined requirements and software designs.
  • Create and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, database objects, and data-access components that support application workflows.
  • Assist with integrating WPF applications with instruments, local services, external systems, and APIs using established communication interfaces, including TCP/IP sockets.
  • Apply asynchronous and multithreaded programming techniques, with guidance, to support responsive and reliable application behavior.
  • Participate in requirements reviews, technical discussions, code reviews, and software design activities.
  • Create and maintain unit and integration tests for user-interface, application, database, and communication components.
  • Investigate and resolve software defects involving user interfaces, application logic, databases, communication interfaces, and deployment.
  • Use debugging and troubleshooting tools to identify root causes and support effective software corrections.
  • Collaborate with Software, Systems, Hardware, Quality, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain clear software implementation, testing, and verification documentation in accordance with established development processes.
  • Apply source-control, testing, exception-handling, and software-development-lifecycle practices throughout assigned work.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge of medical device software, regulated development practices, and related technologies.
Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field required.
  • Three years of software development experience, which may include relevant internships, co-op assignments, or substantial academic or personal projects.
  • Practical experience developing WPF applications using C#, .NET, XAML, and MVVM.
  • Working knowledge of C#, .NET, WPF, XAML, and object-oriented programming.
  • Familiarity with MVVM and separation-of-concerns principles for WPF applications.
  • Experience through employment, internships, academic projects, or personal projects involving WPF data binding, commands, controls, styles, templates, and validation.
  • Foundational knowledge of application logic, service-layer components, and reusable software design.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL databases, including writing queries, working with relational tables, and using application data-access technologies.
  • Familiarity with stored procedures, transactions, or database schema design is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of RESTful APIs, software services, TCP/IP protocols, or socket programming.
  • Basic understanding of asynchronous programming, multithreading, and exception handling.
