What you’ll do

• Work with a team of engineers and database specialists to build and support reliable, performant and efficient database systems that operate at a huge scale and empower numerous business critical applications across the entire company.
• Design, implement, and maintain mission-critical features that will help us deliver robust MySQL infrastructure to our customers.
• Maintain a high engineering standard for MySQL infrastructure, focusing on continuous improvement in reliability, scalability, performance, cost efficiency, and developer velocity.
• Serve as a member of the MySQL Infra on-call team, providing timely support for all pages and critical issues, including monitoring, prompt response to alerts, issue diagnosis/resolution, and communicating status to stakeholders.
• Use AI to accelerate team execution, system design, and decision-making, applying sound judgment to validate outputs and ensure correctness and quality.

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of hands‑on backend software engineering experience in large‑scale MySQL systems.
• Hands on experience building and operating highly available, reliable, production grade systems at scale.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and analytical mindset, with the ability to use data to guide decisions.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Infrastructure provisioning tools (Terraform, Puppet, etc.).
• Demonstrated experience leveraging AI to accelerate development, enhance operations, and improve customer support.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights.
• A track record of developing high‑quality software with high reliability.
• Proven ability to manage and deliver technical initiatives to achieve high‑impact outcomes.

In‑Office Requirement Statement

• We recognize that the ideal environment for work is situational and may differ across departments. What this looks like day‑to‑day can vary based on the needs of each organization or role.
• This role will need to be in the office for in‑person collaboration 1‑2 times per quarter and therefore needs to be a commutable distance from the following offices: PA office.
