  • Independently deploy new software increments with minimal assistance.
  • Troubleshoot and support existing applications with minimal guidance.
  • Maintain documentation of development work, designs and knowledge bases.
  • Take ownership of specific features from concept to delivery and maintenance.
  • Ensure nightly batch processes run reliably and efficiently.
  • Participate in code reviews and mentor junior team members.

Job description

A Software Engineer II is a developing professional and key contributor within an Agile team, responsible for designing, developing, and supporting software solutions across the full development lifecycle. This role participates in all phases of software development, including requirements analysis, system design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. As an integral member of a cross-functional Agile team, the engineer independently delivers high-quality front-end and back-end code, contributes to solution design, and helps troubleshoot complex technical issues. In addition, the Software Engineer II actively participates in DevOps practices, continuous integration and delivery, and collaborates with team members to improve system performance, reliability, and development processes.

Technical Execution
  • Develop robust, high-quality code meeting the defined acceptance criteria of user stories, requiring minimal oversight.
  • Continuously refactor existing code to enhance quality, maintainability, and performance.
  • Execute comprehensive manual and automated tests to validate code against defined acceptance criteria.
  • Independently deploy new software increments with minimal assistance, adhering to established deployment procedures.
  • Effectively troubleshoot and support existing applications, proactively resolving technical issues with minimal guidance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of development work, including detailed designs and comprehensive knowledge bases.
  • Take ownership of specific product features or modules, managing their development from initial concept through delivery and ongoing maintenance.
  • Be proactively available to address and resolve issues related to nightly batch processes, ensuring system reliability and performance.
Agile and Collaboration
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, contributing insights and feedback to support team objectives.
  • Assist Product Owners by analyzing user stories, clarifying technical requirements, and assessing feasibility.
  • Estimate development tasks and feature implementation accurately, providing realistic and reliable timelines.
  • Contribute actively to the refinement and advancement of development methods, processes, and best practices.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of business processes and system functionality relevant to the team's scope.
  • Maintain currency in programming languages, tools, and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Expand and improve cross-functional technical competencies to enhance overall team effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members through activities such as code reviews, pair programming, and advisory on coding standards and best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews, and at times lead more junior members of the team in code reviews, ensuring that team members adhere to agreed coding standards and quality guidelines.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
