Software Engineer II

BTS Software Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer II with an active TS/SCI w/ POLY to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD.

Responsibilities

• The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements.
• Works individually or as part of a team, reviews and tests software components for adherence to design requirements, and documents test results.
• Resolves software problem reports.
• Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
• Provides input to the software components of system design, including hardware/software trade‑offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) or Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS), and requirements analysis from system level to individual components.

• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
• Debug existing software and correct defects.
• Recommend improvements for documentation and software development process standards.
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
• Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
• Apply knowledge of ITOM, ITSM, HRSD, CSM, and/or Service Portal.
• Write or review software and system documentation.
• Serve as team lead appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular project.
• Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries.
• Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
• Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
• Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, consulting with users or system engineers, and investigating problem areas.
• Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
• Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
• Perform quality control on team products during complex algorithm implementation.
• Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure work is completed in accordance with the employed software development process.
• Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive requirements and obtain information on project limitations and capabilities.
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required; four (4) years of additional software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a degree.
• Two (2) years of experience developing and customizing core applications such as Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, and Service Catalog.
• Four (4) years of IT application systems experience in technology solutions delivery is required.
• Experience creating and implementing scripts, business rules, policies, ACLs, and otherwise configuring or modifying ServiceNow applications to meet requirements.
• Experience integrating third‑party software and APIs with ServiceNow using REST and SOAP.
• Experience coding in scripting languages such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AngularJS, JSON, or other languages used in ServiceNow.
• Four (4) years of experience with ServiceNow implementations is required.
• Two (2) years of experience developing on the ServiceNow platform is required.
• ServiceNow System Administrator certification or ServiceNow Application Developer certification is required.

Pay Range

$165,000 to $180,000 full salary range lowest to highest across locations. The BTS pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
