Qualifications

  • Knowledge of SDLC, Git, and Agile.
  • Desirable: medical device experience, AR/VR, cloud, REST APIs.

Responsibilities

  • Define, design, and support system-level architecture for surgical navigation and visualization.
  • Translate clinical and product requirements into detailed system specifications and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, clinical, quality, and regulatory teams to ensure integration across the surgical ecosystem.

This role supports the development of software- and hardware-integrated solutions for orthopedic procedures, with a strong emphasis on system-level architecture, performance, and reliability.* The Systems Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, clinical research, and product management to define system requirements and ensure seamless integration of components across the surgical ecosystem. The ideal candidate is experienced in complex system design, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is passionate about developing technologies that improve surgical precision and patient outcomes.**Key Responsibilities*** Define, design, and support system-level architecture for surgical navigation, and visualization platforms* Translate clinical and product requirements into detailed system specifications and technical requirements* Collaborate with software, hardware, and clinical teams to ensure integration of optical navigation technologies and surgical systems* Support development and optimization of real-time surgical visualization and augmented reality capabilities* Ensure system performance, reliability, and safety across hardware and software components* Participate in verification and validation activities with V&V teams to ensure compliance with medical device standards and regulatory requirements* Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system-level issues across integrated hardware/software environments* Document system architecture, requirements, interfaces, and verification plans in accordance with design control processes* Support risk management activities, including system hazard analysis and mitigation strategies* Contribute to design reviews and cross-functional technical discussions to ensure alignment on system requirements and implementation* Support lifecycle management of existing systems and continuous improvement of platform architecture**Scope / Role Dimensions*** Supports development of integrated surgical navigation, and visualization systems for orthopedic procedures* Works across software, hardware, clinical, quality, and regulatory teams* Responsible for system-level requirements, integration, and performance across complex medical platforms* Contributes to both new product development and sustaining engineering activities**Minimum Qualifications*** Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field* 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, or complex product development* Experience with software development using C# and Unity preferred* Experience integrating software with physical hardware systems (e.g., cameras, robotics, tracking systems)* Strong understanding of optical navigation systems and real-time visualization technologies* Experience with SDLC, version control systems (e.g., Git), and Agile development methodologies* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills**Desired Qualifications*** Experience in medical device systems engineering or regulated environments (FDA/ISO)* Experience with robotic systems or surgical navigation platforms* Understanding of anatomy and biomechanics in orthopedic applications* Familiarity with cloud technologies, web services, and REST APIs* Experience with system risk management and design control processes* Background in augmented reality or immersive visualization systems**Core Competencies*** System Thinking: Ability to design and evaluate complex integrated systems end-to-end* Technical Leadership: Guides cross-functional teams on system architecture and integration decisions* Collaboration: Works effectively across engineering, clinical, and commercial teams* Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves system-level issues across hardware and software* Communication: Clearly communicates technical system concepts to diverse stakeholders* Execution & Accountability: Ensures system deliverables meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements**Working Conditions*** Primarily office or laboratory-based environment* Occasional travel to manufacturing sites, clinical validation sites, and surgeon workshops* Hands-on interaction with surgical instruments, navigation hardware, and integrated testing environments**Who We're Looking For:*** Passionate About Technology – driven to build integrated systems that improve surgical precision and patient outcomes* Highly Collaborative – thrives in multidisciplinary engineering and clinical environments* Detail-Oriented – focused on system reliability, safety, and performance* Problem Solver – enjoys tackling complex system integration challenges* Adaptable – comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving technical environments* Quality-Focused – committed to building safe and reliable medical systems*Currently, Enovis does not provide sponsorship for employment visas (e.g., H-1B) and will not offer such sponsorship in the future.
