American Express Company is seeking a Software Engineer II to design, develop, test, and debug software applications. You will contribute to builds, review code, and ensure quality across environments while following security and regulatory best practices.

In GMST, you will build core card transaction features on a cloud-based platform, participate in agile teams, write code and unit tests, and collaborate with API specs and automation. Proficiency in Java and cloud tech is valued.

Formación

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent, or relevant industry experience.
• Minimum 2 years of software development experience with Google Cloud technologies.
• Experience with distributed systems, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and testing.
• Experience in Agile development and effective written and spoken communication.

Software Engineer II designs, develops, tests, and debugs software applications, contributes to software builds, completes code reviews and automated testing to maintain high-quality standards with guidance, supports and monitors software across environments, and adheres to security and regulatory best practices.

Responsibilities

As an Engineer in GMST

you will be building core features and functions of card transaction systems on distributed platform deployed in the cloud. Actively participating in agile teams and the latest development practices, writing code and unit tests, working with API specs and automation. GMST Engineers use Java Technologies to drive innovation while also finding opportunities for adopting new technologies.

Qualifications

• Computer Science, or equivalent degree, or industry experience.
• Minimum 2 years software development experience in a professional work environment working with Google Cloud technologies (BigQuery, BigTable, BigData, Spark, Scala, Java, Python, Vertx, RESTful micro services, Couchbase, Kafka, Airflow, familiarity and use of AI tools for development is plus).
• Hands-on work experience with application design, software development and automated testing
• Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, relational or NoSQL databases.
• Ability to effectively interpret technical and business objectives and challenges and eloquent solutions.
• Ability to learn and investigate new technology and business domains, question status quo and think outside of the box.
• Ability to debug basic software components and identify code defects for remediation.
• Experience working in Agile or other rapid application development methods.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills.
